Oona Caviar is a brand of Bergquellfisch Frutigen.
What once began as pioneering work in the Bernese Oberland is today Bergquellfisch Frutigen - a place where sustainable fish farming and alpine innovation come together. Russian and Siberian sturgeon and Swiss perch are bred here with great care - in the clear, warm water of the Lötschberg mountain spring.

Milestones of the company
First breeding attempts
It all began in 2005 with the Siberian sturgeon - the fascinating primeval fish that roamed our pure mountain spring water with its grace and laid the foundation for sustainable, alpine caviar.
Launch of Oona Caviar
In November 2011, Oona Caviar celebrated its premiere - the first caviar was sold under the brand.
Introduction of the selections
With different selections, we offer the right Oona Caviar for every connoisseur and every gourmet - from delicate to intense.
Ice Cube
The Ice Cube was an innovative milestone in the presentation of Oona Caviar in 2012. The elegant cool box has received several awards - including the Red Dot Design Award.
Zero Waste
At Oona, we use sturgeon in its entirety: from caviar and fine fillets to fine sturgeon leather - even waste materials are converted into biogas and used to produce electricity. Sustainability in its most beautiful form.
Caviar butter
In 2015, we sold our first caviar butter - creamy, aromatic and ideal for eating hot or cold.
Bottarga
Oona presents: Bottarga de Caviar blocks – for shaving and enhancing dishes.
Indulgence boxes
In 2017, customers can also give Oona as a gift: with lovingly designed indulgence boxes for special moments.
Russian sturgeon near Oona
Since 2019, Russian sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstaedtii) has been part of our selection. Under the name Oona Osietra Carat with a delicate nutty aroma and olive sheen.
Suisse Garantie & Pro Montagna
Since 2022, Oona Caviar has carried the Suisse Garantie and Pro Montagna labels - as a sign of genuine Swiss origin, quality and sustainable production in the mountains.
Sustainable packaging
The message in a bottle. Since 2022, our caviar has been stylishly packaged in frozen mineral water bottles - which can of course be drunk afterwards.
